Thick-lipped guarami is a species of gourami. The male turns darker at breeding time. When breeding, the edges of the male's dorsal fin and anal fin become bordered by golden-orange. A way to tell the gender of the fish is to look at the color and length of the fins. Males are chocolate-brown and the ventral fins of the females are more rounded at the top and rounder behind the pectoral fins. The species scientific name is Colisa labiosa.
